http://www.hamquick.com/ click on the Hamquick Technician Class Tutorials.
Wait for your turn with the book “Now You're Talking!: All You Need to Get Your First Ham Radio License (Now Youre Talking, 5th Ed)” or buy it from Amazon.com for ~$11.95 if you get a used one (make sure you get the 5th edition).
This will get you ready for the test. Now take a bunch of Sample Tests
http://www.qrz.com/ click on the lower left (you will have to move down the page) Practice Tests. Take the Technician test over and over, till you pass it every time.
Now time for the real test. It costs $12 to take the test and you need to know your social security number, and have two Identification items (they like a photo ID, but I doubt you have one, so take a school ID, library card, Scout ID etc.).
The tests are available at many locations.
